I had a little get together yesterday. This was one of the first get togethers I've had for a long, long time. 'Twas a movie party. I showed Battle Royal 1 & 2, made some food had some friends come over and we all enjoyed the insainty of the two flicks. However both movies are long, so in the futre I will have to pick one short film and one long film, or two short films, or just one long film, but never two long films.
I'd love to be able to show films like "M" or "Night of the Stalker" however I think the majority of films that would work would have to be silly, whacked out b-movies. Not that I really mind, as I love silly, whacked out b-movies, just I also like old gritty clasics, light hearted comedies from back when Hollywood ment something, chill indie movies, very deep modern dramas, and well just about every type of movie imaginable. Somehow, if I showed "Metropolis" I don't think that many people would stay rivited to the screen. In all honesty, though I LOVE Fritz Lang, "Metropolis" isn't my favorite Lang film. It does lag a bit in parts. It may just be the copy I own. All the music (oh for those that aren't in the know it's a silent film) is light classical. It's very soothing music with some heavy story. I've heard tell there is a great eighties rock score to it, but have yet to find that. I could try and fashion my own mix for the movie. That would be an insane task, one that would have to be brought on by extreme boredom. Sounds like something I might do at work on a Saturday.
Yeah about that. I was so bored yesterday at work I spent the entier day messing around with photoshoppe. I made a fake "M" poster and then played around with a crappy headshot of mine, taken for a small improv based play I was in last year. Honestly the head shot was not very good. It was taken with a digital camera (point and shoot) against a white wall, in a dark hall way, with a flash. All things that are faux pas in photography. So I put in a new background, I cleaned up and evened out the image, and then I got really bored so I colorized it. I colorized the black and white photo, because I was bored. Came out pretty well actually. All this has made me decide that I need to get a digital camera so I can play around with more pictures and make posters without relying on google image search, which is getting kind of crappy.
In any case, here's some of what I was doing yesterday.

Also this is just a rough draft of a poster. A final one would be a bit more cleaned up.
And this is the colorized head shot. I actually dislike the way I look in this.Oh and I just realzed that it looks like I was eating bbq, what with the smudge under my lip.
Meh. I still have much to learn.
